3D, 4D & Advanced 5D Ultrasonography

Advanced ultrasound imaging provides detailed views of your baby's features and movements, complementing the medical assessment performed during pregnancy.

3D, 4D and advanced 5D ultrasonography are imaging techniques used to provide different views of your developing baby during pregnancy.

A 3D ultrasound creates a three-dimensional image, allowing certain external features, such as the baby's face, hands and feet, to be viewed in greater detail when the baby's position allows.

A 4D ultrasound adds real-time movement to these images. This means movements such as stretching, turning or moving the hands may sometimes be seen during the examination.

Advanced 5D ultrasonography is a term used for enhanced ultrasound visualization techniques that can provide additional image-processing and display options, depending on the equipment and examination.

Image clarity can vary depending on the stage of pregnancy, the baby's position and other factors. Not every feature or movement can be seen clearly during every examination.

These advanced views complement conventional ultrasound assessment. Your doctor will advise which type of scan is appropriate for your pregnancy and clinical needs.

What Do We Assess?

Advanced imaging can help visualize selected features and movements, alongside the routine ultrasound examination.

01

Baby's Facial Features

Provides three-dimensional views of the baby's face when the position and imaging conditions allow.

02

Hands and Feet

May help display the baby's hands, feet and other visible external features.

03

Real-Time Movements

Shows selected fetal movements in real time using 4D imaging.

04

Enhanced Visualization

Uses available imaging and display features to provide additional views where appropriate.

Key Benefits

01

Detailed Three-Dimensional Views

Provides three-dimensional images of selected fetal features, offering additional visual perspectives beyond conventional 2D ultrasound when imaging conditions are suitable.

02

Real-Time Fetal Movements

Four-dimensional imaging allows certain movements, such as stretching, turning and hand movements, to be viewed as they happen during the examination.

03

Enhanced Image Visualization

Advanced 5D display and image-processing features may improve the presentation of selected fetal structures, depending on the ultrasound equipment used.

04

Additional Views of External Features

May help the doctor examine visible external features, including the face, hands and feet, when the baby's position allows a clear view.

05

Complementary Clinical Information

Provides additional visual information that can complement conventional ultrasound findings when clinically appropriate, without replacing routine diagnostic examinations.

06

A Memorable Pregnancy Experience

When clear images are obtained, parents may have the opportunity to see their baby's facial features and movements in greater detail.
