Invasive Procedures & Fetal Therapy

Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS)
A procedure that examines fetal tissue (chorionic villi), typically performed between 11 and 14 weeks of pregnancy for genetic evaluation.

Amniocentesis
A procedure where a small amount of amniotic fluid is extracted under ultrasound guidance, usually performed between 17 and 22 weeks of pregnancy.

Cordocentesis
Also referred to as Fetal Blood Sampling (FBS), this procedure involves collecting fetal blood directly from the umbilical cord under ultrasound guidance. Besides diagnosing chromosomal disorders and fetal infections, it also plays a crucial role in treating fetal anaemia through in-utero blood transfusion, ensuring better fetal management.

Fetal Reduction
This procedure is typically performed in multiple pregnancies involving three or more fetuses. Conducted around 11 weeks of gestation, fetal reduction helps improve the chances of a healthier pregnancy outcome for both mother and babies by reducing complications associated with high-order multiples.
